House Party at the House of Dereon!

This past Saturday, The House of Dereon was reminiscent of a kickback house party and packed with a very diverse crowd. Music World's very own "Bama Boyz" performed song selections from their upcoming album Socially Awkward!

Before the show the HoneyCreme Team had the chance to catch up with the guys in the Music World studio for a little Q&A.

HC: Why Bama Boyz?

BB: Duh we are from Alabama so everybody started calling us the bama boyz

HC: What genre of music do you do?

BB: We don't have a genre we call our style"weird"

HC: How did you get your work noticed by music mogul Matthew Knowles?

Eddie: I was interning in New York at Sony Music for Destiny's Child product manager Quincey Jackson. I was introduced to Matthew Knowles who applauded my hustle and asked me and my group to come to Houston and intern for Music World promotions. Not knowing we could produce; Johnathan followed him into his office one afternoon and put in our remixed version of "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce. Knowles was feeling it, and took us out on his yacht and offered us a deal.

HC: When will the album be released?

BB: It's not exactly an album it's an EP which will be released in October titled Socially Awkward.

HC: What's next for the Bama Boyz?

BB: Working with Solange, Mya, and Trin-I-Tee 5:7 on their new albums as well as our own music.

Heineken Red Star Soul Tour

Sophia Fresh is a sensational new group of three gifted young women united by friendship, a true love for music, and a sheer joy in entertainment.

On Thursday, August 27, 2009 the Houston and Texas City natives Skye, Crystal, and Cole Rose graced The Venue in downtown Houston for the Heineken Red Star Soul Tour. DJ Mos gave the crowd the beat before new breakout rising artist WALE came to the stage with a few selections featuring Houston’s own Bun B. The concert would not have been as remarkably entertaining as it was If Sophia Fresh did not perform with their executive Producer T.Pain as the closing act. These young ladies, often compared to TLC, know how to bring energy to a crowd.

In December Sophia Fresh will release their album, currently untitled. The album will feature artist such as, Kayne West, Cee-Lo, T.Pain and more. Meantime, you can catch the ladies touring with T. Pain. This may be the first time you have heard of Sophia Fresh, but it most certainly will not be the last. For more updates on Sophia Fresh visit www.sophiafresh.com or keep up with them on www.twitter.com/sophiafreshness.

De Otter Creations, a Netherlands-based marketing and creative agency, uses light to create immersing environments it calls B[eye]t (pronounced “Bite”). The company’s designers work with planners to develop audiovisual content, which can be static or moving, then project it onto custom-made tables. And here’s where it gets interesting: Using infrared cameras, B[eye]t allows attendees to interact with the projections—moving graphics around the table, or trading promotional materials between place settings. Overhead and wall projections can create an even more indulging effect. Standard tables seat 10 to 14 people, while banquet tables, which can double as a catwalk or stage (hint hint), accommodate as many as 150.

Things We Crave!

Blowup Things, the U.K.-based firm that designs, manufactures, and rents inflatable structures, has just launched a new illuminated light bulb-shaped sculpture equipped with an internal LED system. The whimsical, old-school shape of an incandescent bulb makes for a suitable reference point at trade shows. (We'll leave it up to you to come up with a clever variation on a "bright idea" theme.)

Swarvoski crystals on furniture is the latest trend in special events decor. The concept is very chic yet fabulous at the same time. Simply take a solid colored piece of furniture and add crystals to the cushions to transform plain to old hollywood glamour. This trend is most popular in Los Angeles and Miami; and now HoneyCreme brings it to Houston.

The Kickback

If you will think about what you ought to do for other people, your character will take care of itself. Character is a by-product, and any man who devotes himself to its cultivation in his own case will become a selfish prig. – Woodrow Wilson

The Shoot2Score Hoops Foundation is far from being a selfish prig, with giving back to the community and helping young individuals progress in life, they have set the standard.

Shoot2Score was founded in 2008 by Marcus Sloan, a graduate of Eisenhower High School and Texas Christian University; where he was a 4-year letterman for the Horned Frogs. He currently plays professionally for Fribourg Switzerland, and in starting Shoot2Score, looks to help young people empower themselves with the necessary tools to make their dreams and goals attainable.

On Sunday, August 9, 2009 Marcus Sloan hosted “The Kickback” at The Tipping Point. The HoneyCreme Team attended the fundraiser in which proceeds from the event helped the organization purchase school supplies for Houston area kids.

CategoryF5 Hits Houston

HoneyCrème Event Planning & Production had the pleasure of interviewing rapper/artist Twista when he came to Houston for the HIP HOP for HIV concert. Twista let us in on his passion towards informing Houstonians on the importance of getting tested for HIV; a disease that is heavily affecting the African American community.

The event took place at the George R. Brown Convention Center with performances by artists such as: Bobby Valentino, Yung LA, Day 26, and many more. The artists had the city of Houston entertained all day long, but most importantly, encouraging our youth to get tested.

1. There is a fully stocked bar just steps from my chaise lounge.
2. There is a full-time server ready to bring me something from the fully stocked bar.
3. Pool attendants offer complimentary Evian spritzes every hour.
4. There are actual pool attendants.
5. I can appreciate a stellar downtown view when I see one.

12. There's no need for my iPod because the pool's tunes are perfectly pleasant.
13. I don't have to drag a cooler with me everywhere I go. Coolers are so uncool.
14. It's got a fire pit. Does yours?
15. I'm so close to home yet so far away.
16. Who doesn't want to say they've been chillaxin' at the Four Seasons all day?
17. The group chaise lounge has enough seating for me and 15 of my closest.
18. Did I mention the bar is still open!?
19. I don't have to have a member number to call this place mine.
20. MY pool's at the Four Seasons.

For the Love of Fashion Charity Fashion Show

The first annual For the Love of Fashion charity fashion show featuring headlining designer Bukky Are’ of House of Versatile Styles was last night and the HoneyCreme Team was in the building! The show was amazing and showcased lines from Bukky Are’, Afrik Couture, Tosa, Posilive, JeyFree, Linany Couture, and Village Girls Boutique. We were digging the House of Versatile Styles and Afrik Couture: The New You Line! Oh, and did we mention that Joslyn Pennywell from America’s Next Top Model ripped the runway!

As if the fashion was not enough we were entertained with performances from Renne, AiRis and Juzcoz; who performed their ILUVVIDEOGAMES hit. Check out their MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/juzcozmusic. This song had us reminiscing on our Nintendo days and we love it!

The show was part of a series of events taking place during the Nigerian Reunion Organization weekend, raising money to help alleviate poverty in Nigeria.

Thanks to Gazelle PR for allowing us to crash the event. Shout out to Ms. Kelly King of LiveWire PR, Adrienne and Ericka with The BLVD Mag, AJ of The Bag Closet, and Ms. Judy of Village Girls Boutique!

Pop the Cork, Fire Up the Grill and Send Out the Invites...It's Memorial Day!

This Memorial Day we’re trading in the backyard pools and public beaches for the open seas. We’re having an All-American Yacht Party!
  • Chartering a yacht is a snap. Check with your local marina or harbor for yacht rentals. Memorial Day rentals will vary from city to city but you should expect to pay anywhere from $600 and up.
  • When done correctly, themes can add spice to your event! We’re going with an “All American” theme and we’re incorporating it into our drinks, menu, and attire.

  • Let your guest know that the attire is All American Designers. Designers we suggest are: Tracey Reese, Sean John, Rachel Roy and Marc Jacobs, however there are many others to choose from.
  • American food is just as diverse as American people. Serve your guest BBQ Shrimp Skewers, Sliders and Grilled Veggies.

  • Pair it with some great American Wines from the Napa Valley like: Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc, Vinoce, and Summers Charbono.

  • Be a responsible host and arrange town cars for partygoers to get home safely.
