This past Saturday, The House of Dereon was reminiscent of a kickback house party and packed with a very diverse crowd. Music World's very own "Bama Boyz" performed song selections from their upcoming album
Socially Awkward!
Before the show the HoneyCreme Team had the chance to catch up with the guys in the Music World studio for a little Q&A.
HC: Why Bama Boyz?
BB: Duh we are from Alabama so everybody started calling us the bama boyz
HC: What genre of music do you do?
BB: We don't have a genre we call our style"weird"
HC: How did you get your work noticed by music mogul Matthew Knowles?
Eddie: I was interning in New York at Sony Music for Destiny's Child product manager Quincey Jackson. I was introduced to Matthew Knowles who applauded my hustle and asked me and my group to come to Houston and intern for Music World promotions. Not knowing we could produce; Johnathan followed him into his office one afternoon and put in our remixed version of "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce. Knowles was feeling it, and took us out on his yacht and offered us a deal.
HC: When will the album be released?
BB: It's not exactly an album it's an EP which will be released in October titled Socially Awkward.
HC: What's next for the Bama Boyz?
BB: Working with Solange, Mya, and Trin-I-Tee 5:7 on their new albums as well as our own music.
